The only Bible Verse that talks about 25th December; as a day when King of Judah was released from Prison by King of Babylon and NOT as a day Jesus was Born

Jeremiah 52:31-34

New King James Version (NKJV)

Jehoiachin Released from Prison

31 Now it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, that Evil-Merodach[a] king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison. 32 And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a more prominent seat than those of the kings who were with him in Babylon. 33 So Jehoiachin changed from his prison garments, and he ate bread regularly before the king all the days of his life. 34 And as for his provisions, there was a regular ration given him by the king of Babylon, a portion for each day until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

  1. I just wanted to share that the Old Testament doesn’t go off of the calander we do. The Hebrew calander predates ours and is based on the moon, not the sun. The 12th month in this passage is not refering to december. It would be somewhere around mid February to mid March. In the Old Testament December 25th would would be in the 10th month. The two calendars are not in sync with eachother so the 25th of the 10th month on the Hebrew calendar would always fall on a different date of our calendar. That said, as far as I know there is no reference to specifically when Jesus’ birthday was. I believe Dec 25 was a date chosen by early Christians. Maybe they selected that date based on the verse you found since it relates to the destruction of the temple. Since in Christ there is a new temple perhaps they picked that date to come moratorium his birth? I dont know, its just a thought….all I really know is that when I became His disciple and let Jesus’ words / sayings / teachings shape all of my life it changed me completly into a new person, it took the tiredness and burdens away and gave me rest. It doesn’t matter to me when His birthday is, let’s celebrate it every day! 🙂 peace be to you!

  2. Oh Praise Him in the morning, Praise Him in the Noon, Praise Him till the Sun goes down! He is the Prince of Peace and His Name is Jesus!

  3. If really the 25th of December was the day Jesus was born was then people die so much people get drunk and do all sots of unholy things i mean really is this the way we must celebrate the birth of the most holy….THINK ABOUT IT

  4. Once again all of the problems people have with the bible could of been avoided if the authors had recorded actual dates. I find this allows many events in the bible to be ambiguous,is this just a way of making it difficult to disprove certain biblical events?
If I were recording the life and times of a very important person I would include dates to prove beyond doubt that what I said was true and checkable.
